Comfort Maximized From New Plants to Furnace Service

With winter settled in and days that seem like there’s hardly any daylight, it can be hard to always feel like your home is a comfortable place to be. That spreads far beyond completing annual furnace service too, because there are a variety of things you can do to help make your home feel comfortable even when your furnace is running at its best.

Here are a couple that we find very helpful here in Genoa:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean quite a bit of air is leaving your home. And, the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is heading outside also. There are a host of choices that can help you seal those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly basic fixes for homeowners to handle themselves.
  • Change your furnace filter. This is one of the most critical things you can do to not only improve your furnace’s efficiency, but also to help save you money. Plus, you don’t need to have your furnace service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s normally recommended to switch your furnace filter every one or two months to get the most out of its benefits, but some can last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can provide a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually attractive, they can possibly boost your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a variety of pollutants that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Furnace service. This should be something that you’re already taking care of, but it never hurts to get a reminder. Having furnace service completed annually helps you make certain that your furnace is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t in trouble.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 847-306-8990 to hear about any of these suggestions or find out more about furnaces, our furnace service or anything else comfort related.
