Comfort Maximized - From New Plants to Air Conditioner Service

December 11, 2015

With colder weather settled in and days that seem like there’s very little any sunlight, it can be difficult to always feel like your home is a comfy place to be. That spreads far beyond completing annual air conditioner service too, because there are various things you can do to help make your home feel cozy even when your air conditioner is operating at its peak.

Here are a few that we find especially helpful here in Genoa:

  • Seal air leaks. Air leaks, whether they’re around your windows or your doors, may mean quite a bit of air is leaving your home. It goes without saying that the air that you’ve just paid to be heated or cooled is going outside too. There are a host of options that can help you seal those gaps, from weatherstripping to caulking, and they are fairly simple fixes for homeowners to do themselves.
  • Change your air conditioner filter. This is one of the most important things you can do to not only improve your air conditioner’s efficiency, but also to help save you on your energy costs. Plus, you don’t need to have your air conditioner service technician to do it, you can do it yourself. It’s typically recommended to change your air conditioner filter every one or two months to get the most out of its benefits, but some could last even longer.
  • Buy plants. Indoor plants can leave you with a variety of comforts for your home. Not only are they visually appealing, they could potentially better your indoor air quality as well because plants absorb a host of toxins that are emitted from a host of common household cleaners, paints and other products.
  • Air conditioner service. This should be something that you’re already doing, but it never hurts to receive a reminder. Having air conditioner service completed annually helps you be sure that your air conditioner is in working-order, and if there’s a need for repairs, those can be fixed so your comfort isn’t compromised.

It doesn’t have to feel tough to keep a comfortable home when winter sets in. Feel free to give us a call at 847-306-8990  to talk about any of these suggestions or find out more about air conditioners, our air conditioner service or anything else comfort related.
